The Rogerson House
Day Program
A Positive Option for Those Who Need Memory Care,
but Wish to Continue Living at Home
The Rogerson House Day Program gives participants access to our memory care programs and services specifically designed to help maintain their physical and mental abilities. We promote socialization, provide nutritious meals, and offer an array of heartening social and expressive therapy programs.
Our Day Program professionals include Care Partners, Expressive Therapists, Program Assistants and a full-time Program Coordinator. Participants in our Day Program enjoy the same specialized programming as our assisted living residents, emphasizing the positive, building on abilities, and enhancing self-confidence, all done in and around our welcoming Jamaica Plain location. And our Day Program allows families to spend quality time with family members at the end of each day, while also allowing for a smooth transition into our residential program, if it should become appropriate.
Daily Activities
Designed with therapeutic memory care results in mind and a focus on the whole person, every day our Day Program strives to support participants’ social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual.
Exercises build strength, endurance and balance.
Discussion, poetry or writing groups encourage self-expression.
Creative music programs promote reminiscing.
Gardening in our raised beds or greenhouse provides outdoor recreation and enjoyment of nature.
Walking groups around Jamaica Pond or in our secure, spacious garden area promote health and wellness.
Backyard barbecues, birthday parties, and holidays are social events enjoyed by program participants.
Creative cooking groups enhance the senses and promote a feeling of accomplishment.
Opera, voice, and musical theater students perform at Rogerson House.
Yoga and creative movement groups are ongoing offerings.
Our Art Therapy programs provide rich opportunities for self-expression and creativity that can release a person from the confines of day-to-day life. This visual and contextual display of inner feelings and thoughts can provide self-satisfaction and emotional release.
Our Music Therapy addresses the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals for meaningful engagement and, often, comforting reminiscence. Music can evoke very personal and individual responses, and can help those with memory challenges in their own equally personal ways.
Our Narrative Therapy provides a friendly framework for recalling, telling, and sometimes recording some of the life stories that have made people who they are. This can provide a welcome boost of emotional and cognitive satisfaction that relieves anxiety and promotes personal happiness.
